Roughly eight months ago I attended a food justice conference at Impact Hub Boulder, sponsored by Hana and her the incredible team at Boulder Food Rescue. Armed with a modest-sized color banner that I'd retrieved from FedEx earlier in the morning, I sat at table, kindly secured for me by Hana, advertising and asking for people to sign up and join me in creating a Feeding the 5000 Denver event in 2016.
Eight months later, Feeding the 5000 Front Range is reality thanks to the support of EPA Region 8 and a permit from the City of Denver to hold a two- to three-day event in Skyline Park, adjacent to the 16th Street Mall, in October 2016.
Additionally, in conjunction with the EPA, I am helping to build a coalition to help reduce the amount of food that's wasted in our state. The coaltion's first meeting is 11.12.15 in downtown Denver and will ultimately comprise members of tribal, state, and local governments, NGOs, students, businesses, non-profits and private members of the community.
Leap. What's possible is amazing.
