Legend has it there's gold in them. In them and on them.
I know this because my wife and I took a mini staycation across the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway before Aspen stands decked out in impossibly yellow-gold leaves were blown to the winds.
Across 60-or-so miles of pavement, pine-scented oxygen scrubbed our lungs, mountain peaks nearly three-miles high made us feel small and, in the next instant, a larger part of creation and, like two last-minute Holiday shoppers hoping store shelves would still hold something worthwhile, stalwart beams of gold-against-green materialized around every other corner.
Pulling up the parking brake on our car that evening, back home, I thought of a print ad for BMW Motorcycles. The ad, written by Sally Hogshead, included a visual of a motorcycle and rider in motion on a twisty mountain road. The bottom of the page held a small, white text box with a headline in modest-sized black font. The line, which Sally said she landed on after writing about 100, went something like this:
Dangerous? Dangerous is sitting on your couch.
